Connect Alpha SMS for order SMS
Send order texts through your Alpha SMS (sms.net.bd) account: the API key, the optional sender name, testing and common errors.
What it is#
Alpha SMS (sms.net.bd) is a Bangladesh SMS service. After you connect it, Jukto sends your order texts through your own Alpha SMS account and balance.
What you need#
- An Alpha SMS account with some balance.
- Your API key.
- Optional: a Sender ID that Alpha SMS approved for you.
Where to find your keys#
- 1
Sign in to Alpha SMS
Open your Alpha SMS account and look for the API key in your dashboard or the API page (sms.bd/api explains it).
- 2
Copy the API key
Copy it. You paste it into the API key field in Jukto.
- 3
Optional: the sender name
If Alpha SMS approved a sender name or number for you, you enter it in Sender ID. Leave it empty to use the default.
What Jukto does#
- Your key is stored encrypted for this website only. After saving, only the last four characters are shown.
- Test connection reads your Alpha SMS balance. It sends no text.
- Alpha SMS detects Bangla text by itself, so Jukto sends no extra unicode flag.
- When it is on, every order event you switched on sends one text to the buyer's mobile number. Numbers written as 01..., +8801... or 8801... are accepted; anything else is not sent.
- The text is paid from your own Alpha SMS balance.
- Demo orders, POS orders and imported orders never send a text.
- Each text appears in the SMS list on the order page as Waiting, Sent or Failed, with a Resend button. The log keeps only the last four digits of the number and the length of the text, never the text itself.
- If the gateway says a second try may work (it could not be reached, or it had a problem on its side), Jukto tries again, up to three times in all.
Test and turn on#
- 1
Open the provider page
Go to Tools, open Integrations, choose SMS, then Alpha SMS and press Set up (it says Manage once you have started).
- 2
Fill in the fields and save
Paste each value into the field with the same name, then press Save. A secret value is stored encrypted, and afterwards only its last four characters are shown.
- 3
Test the connection
Press Test connection. Jukto asks Alpha SMS whether the saved values work and shows whether it worked and, if not, what Alpha SMS answered. The test uses the saved values, so save first.
- 4
Choose the order texts
In Order SMS on the same page pick the language of the texts, switch each event on or off, edit the wording if you like and press Save. See SMS gateways for the events and the words you can insert.
- 5
Turn on
Press Turn on. Until then your website does not use it. Turn off stops it again and your saved values stay.
- 6
Send a test SMS to yourself
Press Send a test SMS to my number. The text goes to the mobile number of the owner. You can send up to 5 a day, and it appears in the activity log below once it is sent.
Common errors#
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Authorization failed: the API key is wrong. | Copy the key again from your Alpha SMS account, replace it and save. |
| Insufficient balance; top up your Alpha SMS account. | Add credit, then use Resend on the order. |
| Invalid or unapproved sender ID. | Clear the Sender ID field to use the default, or enter one Alpha SMS approved. |
| Your Alpha SMS account has expired. | Renew the account with Alpha SMS. |
| The message is too long. | Shorten the template in Order SMS. Bangla text counts in shorter parts than English. |
| The content was blocked by the gateway. | Change the wording of the template and try again. |
| The SMS gateway could not be reached. Try again in a minute. | A short network problem. Test again after a minute. A real text is tried again by itself. |
| The mobile number is not a valid Bangladesh number. | The buyer wrote a number that is not a Bangladesh mobile. Nothing is sent; fix the number on the order if you can. |
