What it is#

Google Search Console is Google's free tool that tells you how your site does in Google search. Jukto connects to it for you: it proves the site is yours, adds it to Search Console, sends your sitemap and shows how people find you, all inside the dashboard.

What you need#

  • A Google account that can manage your site in Search Console. You type no key: you sign in with Google.
  • A published home page. For your own domain, access to its DNS records (or Cloudflare connected in Domain settings).

Where to find your keys#

There is no key to find. You sign in with Google and Jukto does the rest.

  1. 1

    Press Connect with Google

On the Google Search Console page press Connect with Google.

  2. 2

Choose the account and allow access

Choose the Google account that owns or manages your site and allow both permissions Google asks for (Search Console and site verification).

  3. 3

    Let Jukto prove the site

For your free address Jukto puts a verification tag on your home page and asks Google to check it. For your own domain it shows a DNS record to add; with Cloudflare connected, press Add it with Cloudflare. Then press Check now.

What Jukto does#

The page walks through four steps and shows each as Done, Waiting, Not yet or Problem:

  • Sign in with Google. Shows the account you connected.
  • Prove the site is yours. Your free address is checked with a tag on the home page; your own domain with a DNS record. Each site is listed as Verified or Not verified yet.
  • Add the site to Search Console.
  • Send the sitemap. Shows the date it was sent. See Sitemap and robots.txt.

After that the page shows How people find you on Google:

  • The last 28 days of Clicks, Impressions, Click rate and Average position, plus your Top 10 searches and Top 10 pages. Google's data runs 2 to 3 days behind, and a new site needs a few days before any numbers show.
  • The numbers are kept for 6 hours to save Google's quota; Refresh asks again.
  • Inspect one address asks Google what it knows about one page of your site: is it on Google, when it was last read, and which address Google treats as the main one. You can inspect 20 addresses a day.

Test and turn on#

  1. 1

    Open the Search Console page

Go to Tools, open Integrations, choose SEO & search, then Google Search Console and press Set up (it says Manage once you have started).

  2. 2

    Finish the four steps

Connect with Google, then let Jukto prove the site. When the site shows Verified, In Search Console and Sitemap sent, the four steps are done. If verification waits, press Check now again after a few minutes.

  3. 3

    Test the connection

Press Test connection. Jukto asks Google whether the access still works and shows the result.

  4. 4

    Turn on

Press Turn on. Until then your website does not use it. Turn off stops it again and your saved values stay.
