What it is#

This connects your WhatsApp Business number (through Meta's Cloud API) to the Chat inbox. Customers write to your number as usual; you read and answer in the dashboard, and after 24 hours you can send approved message templates.

What you need#

  • A Meta Business portfolio and a Meta app with the WhatsApp use case.
  • A WhatsApp Business account with a registered business phone number. A number already used in the normal WhatsApp app must be migrated first.
  • Four values: Phone number ID, WhatsApp Business account ID, Access token and App secret.
  • Meta charges for some WhatsApp conversations and message templates. Check Meta's WhatsApp price page.

Where to find your keys#

  1. 1

Phone number ID and account ID

Open your Meta app, go to WhatsApp, then API Setup. Copy the Phone number ID and the WhatsApp Business account ID into the matching fields in Jukto.

  2. 2

    A permanent token

In Meta Business Settings open Users, then System users, add a system user, give it your app and WhatsApp account, and generate a token with whatsapp_business_messaging and whatsapp_business_management. Copy it into Access token.

  3. 3

    The app secret

In your Meta app open Settings, then Basic, and copy the App secret into the App secret field.

  4. 4

    Webhook verify token (optional)

Leave Webhook verify token empty to use the one Jukto shows on the page.

What Jukto does#

  • Your token and app secret are stored encrypted for this website only. The IDs are settings.
  • The page shows your Callback URL and Verify token for Meta, and the field to subscribe to: messages. Make a new address replaces both at once; paste the new ones into Meta, because the old ones stop working.
  • Each incoming message is checked against your app secret, then saved once. The chat log is kept for 90 days. Jukto keeps no message text in its activity log.
  • You reply from the Chat page. Within 24 hours of the customer's last message you write freely; after that you can send an approved message template that you made in your Meta Business Manager.
  • A WhatsApp chat is matched to a customer by phone number.

Test and turn on#

  1. 1

    Open the provider page

Go to Tools, open Integrations, choose Chat, then WhatsApp Business and press Set up (it says Manage once you have started).

  2. 2

Fill in the fields and save

Paste each value into the field with the same name, then press Save. A secret value is stored encrypted, and afterwards only its last four characters are shown.

  3. 3

    Test the connection

Press Test connection. Jukto asks WhatsApp Business whether the saved values work and shows whether it worked and, if not, what WhatsApp Business answered. The test uses the saved values, so save first.

  4. 4

    Connect Meta to Jukto

In your Meta app open WhatsApp, then Configuration. Under Webhook paste the Callback URL and the Verify token from the Jukto page, press Verify and save, and subscribe to the field messages. The app must be set to Live.

  5. 5

    Turn on

Press Turn on. Until then your website does not use it. Turn off stops it again and your saved values stay.

  6. 6

    Send yourself a message

From another phone write to your business number. The message should appear in the Chat inbox within moments. Reply to it to check the way back.
