Move from WooCommerce
Import your products, customers and past orders from your WooCommerce site through its REST API: the read-only key, the steps and what can go wrong.
What it is#
WooCommerce is the online store plugin for WordPress. Jukto reads your products, customers and past orders through the WooCommerce REST API with a read-only key you make in your WordPress admin, and brings them into this website.
What you need#
- A WooCommerce site that works on https.
- An admin login to create a REST API key. WooCommerce adds no charge for keys; your hosting plan is your own.
- Three values: Site address, Consumer key and Consumer secret.
Where to find your keys#
- 1
Open the REST API settings
In your WordPress admin open WooCommerce, then Settings, then Advanced, then REST API.
- 2
Add a read-only key
Press Add key. Give it a name, choose yourself as the user, and set Permissions to Read.
- 3
Copy both values now
Press Generate API key. Copy the Consumer key and the Consumer secret now, because WooCommerce shows them only once.
- 4
Enter them in Jukto
Enter your site address (for example https://example.com) in Site address, and paste the two values into Consumer key and Consumer secret.
What Jukto does#
- Jukto reads your products (with their variations and pictures), customers and orders (with their lines) page by page. It only reads.
- Products arrive as drafts with variants, prices, stock and the main picture of each product and variant. Pictures are downloaded into your media library.
- Customers with a Bangladesh mobile number arrive once each. Orders arrive as history: they appear in Orders and on the customer, and change no stock, send no message and do not count in your sales figures. A line whose SKU matches no product is kept as text.
- Imported orders never trigger order SMS or email.
- Cost prices are imported only when the owner runs the import.
- See Move from another platform for the limits and the repeat rule.
Test and turn on#
- 1
Open the provider page
Go to Tools, open Integrations, choose Move from another platform, then WooCommerce and press Set up (it says Manage once you have started).
- 2
Fill in the fields and save
Paste each value into the field with the same name, then press Save. A secret value is stored encrypted, and afterwards only its last four characters are shown.
- 3
Test the connection
Press Test connection. Jukto asks WooCommerce whether the saved values work and shows whether it worked and, if not, what WooCommerce answered. The test uses the saved values, so save first.
- 4
Choose what to import
In Import from WooCommerce tick Products, Customers and/or Order history. For orders you may enter a date: only orders on or after it are imported.
- 5
Check what will be imported
Press Check what will be imported. Jukto reads your site and shows a summary: new rows, rows updated, rows already here (skipped), pictures found and downloaded, and the first rows. Nothing is saved yet.
- 6
Import now
If the summary looks right, press Import now and watch the progress. If rows have problems, use Download the list of problems, fix them and start again.
- 7
Review the drafts and publish
Open Products, check the imported drafts (prices, stock, pictures) and publish the ones you want to sell.
Common errors#
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| The address is not a public https address that can be reached. Check it above. | Use the full https address of your site, as it opens in a browser. |
| The address redirects somewhere else. Use the final https address. | Open your site in a browser, copy the address it ends on, and use that. |
| The platform refused your key or token. | Check the Consumer key and secret, test the connection and try again. Make a new key if you lost the secret. |
| The key or token is missing a permission. WooCommerce needs Read access. | Make a key with Permissions set to Read. |
| No store was found at this address. | Check the address and that WooCommerce is installed and its REST API is on. |
| The platform is slowing you down. Try again in a few minutes. | Wait a few minutes and start again. |
| There was nothing to import (no items, or no customers with a Bangladesh mobile). | Your site has no such items, or the customers have no Bangladesh mobile number. |
| Your plan product limit would be exceeded. | Import fewer products, or look at your plan in Billing. |
| The prepared data expired. Start the import again. | Press Start over and check again before importing. |
