Connect Klaviyo to sync customers and orders

Send your customers and Placed Order events to Klaviyo for flows and campaigns: private key and scopes, list, test and common errors.

What it is#

Klaviyo is a marketing email service. Jukto sends it your customers (who gave an email address) and a Placed Order event for each order, so you can build flows and campaigns in Klaviyo. Klaviyo does not send your order emails: use Brevo or Resend for that.

What you need#

  • A Klaviyo account.
  • A Private API key with these scopes: accounts:read, lists:read, profiles:write, subscriptions:write and events:write.

Where to find your keys#

  1. 1

Find where private keys are made

Sign in to Klaviyo and look in your account settings for the place where private API keys are created. The exact menu name changes, so check Klaviyo help if you cannot see it.

  2. 2

    Create the key with scopes

Create a Private API key and give it the scopes accounts:read, lists:read, profiles:write, subscriptions:write and events:write.

  3. 3

    Copy the key

Copy it. You paste it into the Private API key field in Jukto.

What Jukto does#

  • Your key is stored encrypted for this website only. After saving, only the last four characters are shown. Test connection checks the key with Klaviyo.
  • For each customer Jukto saves a Klaviyo profile by email (name and phone too) and, if you chose a List, subscribes the profile to that list.
  • For each order it sends a Placed Order event with the total, the order link and the items. The event carries the order number as its unique id, so a repeat is one event.
  • A customer is sent when an order is placed, or when you add a customer by hand. Only customers who gave an email address are sent.
  • Under Customers and orders you can switch Send customers and Send orders on or off.
  • Sync existing customers sends the customers you already have, in the background, with a progress line.
  • Klaviyo is a separate service: it keeps its own copy, under its own plan. Switching the integration off stops new data from going; it does not delete what Klaviyo already has.

Test and turn on#

  1. 1

    Open the provider page

Go to Tools, open Integrations, choose Email, then Klaviyo and press Set up (it says Manage once you have started).

  2. 2

Fill in the fields and save

Paste each value into the field with the same name, then press Save. A secret value is stored encrypted, and afterwards only its last four characters are shown.

  3. 3

    Test the connection

Press Test connection. Jukto asks Klaviyo whether the saved values work and shows whether it worked and, if not, what Klaviyo answered. The test uses the saved values, so save first.

  4. 4

    Choose the list

After the key works, press Load my lists and pick your list from the list. New customers go there.

  5. 5

    Choose what is sent

Under Customers and orders use the switches Send customers and Send orders. They start switched on. Press Save switches.

  6. 6

    Turn on

Press Turn on. Until then your website does not use it. Turn off stops it again and your saved values stay.

  7. 7

    Send your existing customers

Press Sync existing customers. Every customer who has an email address is sent in the background, and a progress line shows how far it is. It works only while the integration is on.

Common errors#
