Meta and TikTok pixels

Measure ad results with the Meta Pixel and TikTok Pixel on your store, plus server events for purchases, and check them with a test event.

A pixel is a small piece of code that tells Facebook, Instagram or TikTok what happened on your store: who looked at a product, who added to the cart, who bought. With it your ads can find similar people and you can see which ad brought a sale. Jukto adds the code for you; you only paste the IDs.

Before you start#

  • A Meta Business account with a pixel (Events Manager > Data sources), and/or a TikTok Business account with a pixel.
  • Your website is live, because events fire on your live store only. See Go live.
  • You are the owner, or staff with the Integrations permission.

Connect the Meta Pixel#

Open Tools > Integrations, group Marketing & ads, and choose Meta Pixel.

  1. 1

    Paste the Pixel ID

Find it in Events Manager > Data sources > your pixel. Numbers only. This is the only required field.

  2. 2

Add the Conversions API token (recommended)

In the pixel settings choose Conversions API > Generate access token. With it, purchases are also sent from the server, so ad blockers do not hide them, and they are matched to the pixel by order number.

  3. 3

    Save, test and turn on

Press Save, then Test connection, then Turn on. Nothing runs until you turn it on.

  4. 4

    Send a test event

Put the Test event code from the Test events tab in the page, save, and press Send test event. It sends a test Purchase that you can see in Events Manager > Test events. Nothing is counted as a sale. Clear the code when you finish: events with it do not count as real.

Connect the TikTok Pixel#

Choose TikTok Pixel in the same group. Paste the Pixel code (TikTok Events Manager > your pixel). For server events add the Events API access token (pixel settings > Generate access token). A Test event code and Send test event work the same way.

What is tracked#

EventWhen it fires
PageView (Meta) / page (TikTok)On every page
ViewContentOn a product page
AddToCartWhen a line is added to the cart
InitiateCheckoutWhen the checkout opens with lines
AddPaymentInfo (Meta) / PlaceAnOrder (TikTok)When the order is sent
PurchaseOn the thank-you page, and again from the server when the order is confirmed. One copy is kept

The page also lists these under What gets tracked. Events fire on your live store only, never in the builder preview. A purchase is sent once per order: the browser and the server share the order number as the event id, so nothing is counted twice.

Common problems#

Events Manager shows nothing

The integration must be turned on, the Pixel ID must be right, and you must open your live store (not the preview). Use Send test event and look in the Test events tab.

Purchases are counted twice

They should not be: both copies carry the order number as event id. If the same pixel is also loaded another way, for example by a Tag Manager tag, remove that second copy.

Test purchases show as sales

Clear the Test event code after testing; events carrying it are not real.
