Demo content
A new website comes with sample products, customers and orders to learn on. Here is how they work and how they are removed, group by group.
A new website is never empty. It comes with demo products, customers, orders and pictures, so you can practise before you add your own data.
What is demo data#
- Demo products, customers and orders are clearly marked Demo, so you never mix them with real ones.
- Demo orders are never delivered or paid, and they never count as sales or against your plan limits.
- Besides products, orders and customers, the demo also has categories, brands, menus, coupons, delivery rules, checkout rules, banners and pictures.
How demo data goes away#
There are three ways, and none of them touches what you made yourself.
- 1
Group by group, after a lesson
Each group of demo data unlocks after the steps in Complete your store that teach it: products after the Product step, orders after the Order step, customers after the Customer step, banners and pictures after the design steps, and categories, brands, menus and rules after Delivery charge, Payment and Product. Until then the delete button of that group is locked and says what it waits for.
- 2
By yourself, any time it is unlocked
Open Demo data on the Overview card (or Settings > Demo content) and press Delete for one group: products, orders, customers, banners and pictures, or categories, brands, menus and rules. You see what goes and what stays before you confirm.
- 3
Automatically
Demo data also clears itself after 7 days. The card shows how many days are left.
What always stays#
| Group | What is kept when you delete it |
|---|---|
| Products | Demo orders stay, with the product names and prices written on them |
| Orders | Orders you placed or confirmed yourself, and the demo customers and products |
| Customers | Orders keep the customer name and phone written on them |
| Banners and pictures | A picture that a product or a page still uses |
| Categories, brands, menus and rules | A category, brand, label or attribute that a product still uses. A coupon that was already used is archived, not deleted |
Anything you edited is yours, so it stays.
Common problems#
The delete button is locked
That group is waiting for its lesson. Finish the step named next to it in Complete your store, then try again.
I deleted demo products but some are still there
A demo item that something still uses is kept. For example a demo category that one of your products is in. Move the product first, then delete again.
Can I get the demo back?
Jukto does not bring deleted demo data back by itself. If your Products page offers Load demo products, you can use it. If it says demo products were loaded before, check the Trash tab there. Otherwise, add your own products.
