Connect your own domain
Use an address you already own, like shop.yourbrand.com, instead of the free one. Add two DNS records, let Jukto check them, and HTTPS is set up for you.
Every online store has a free address like your-name.jukto.store. If you own a domain such as yourbrand.com, you can connect it as your custom domain. Each website has one custom domain. The free address keeps working and, once your domain is live, sends visitors to it.
Before you start#
- A domain you own, and access to the place where its DNS records are managed (your registrar, or Cloudflare). Not sure what DNS is? Read DNS records explained.
- Your website is an online store or a website with public pages. A website with no public pages (Business Management Only) cannot connect a domain.
- Want a new domain instead? See Buy a domain.
Connect it step by step#
Open Settings > Domain and the tab Connect your domain.
- 1
Enter the exact address
Type the address buyers should use, such as
shop.example.comorexample.com, and press Add domain. Wildcards and IP addresses are refused. - 2
Add the records at your DNS provider
The page shows a DNS records table: a TXT record that proves the domain is yours, and a CNAME (for a subdomain such as shop.example.com) or an A record (for a bare domain such as example.com) that points it to Jukto. Use Copy and enter them exactly as shown. Keep them DNS only (no proxy).
- 3
Check
Press Check DNS now. Each record shows Found or Not found, and "Last check saw" shows what Jukto actually saw. Jukto also re-checks by itself every hour.
- 4
HTTPS and live
When the records are right, the HTTPS certificate is requested automatically and the status moves on to Active. Your free address now sends visitors to your domain.

The records#
| Record | Where | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| TXT | _jukto-verify.your-domain | Proves you own the domain. The value starts with jukto-verify= and is shown on the page. Keep it while the domain is connected |
| CNAME | A subdomain such as shop | Points the subdomain at Jukto. It must be the only record for that name |
| A | The bare domain (@) | Points the domain at Jukto. Remove other A or AAAA records for that name |
The exact names and values are on your screen. A CNAME cannot sit on the bare domain, so use the A record there.
Status of your domain#
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Waiting for DNS records | Added; the records are not all found yet |
| Verified, preparing HTTPS | Ownership and routing are right; the certificate is being prepared |
| HTTPS certificate pending | The certificate is being issued |
| Active | Live. Shows "Active since ..." |
| Needs attention | The last check failed. The page explains which record is wrong |
| Disabled by the Jukto team | Contact support |
Disconnect#
Press Disconnect on your domain. Your store stays reachable on the free address.
Common problems#
"The TXT record was not found yet"
DNS changes take minutes to hours. Check the name and value for typos and recheck later. Some providers add your domain automatically, so type only the part before it.
"The A record points somewhere else" / "The CNAME points somewhere else"
Use the value shown on the page, and make sure it is DNS only. Remove extra A, AAAA or CNAME records for the same name.
"The HTTPS certificate could not be issued"
Press Check DNS now again to retry. The records must be correct and not proxied.
"One custom domain per store"
Disconnect the current one first. A domain used by another store has to be removed there, or ask support.
